The Copper River Family of Companies is owned by the Native Village of Eyak, which is recognized as an Alaska Native Tribe. This is a different structure than an Alaska Native Corporation.

ANCs have shareholders who are Alaska Natives and they receive dividends. With Alaska Native Tribe organizations, all profits are put back into community services and programs.

The acquisition of Aspire Medical Staffing expands Copper River’s footprint in the health care industry, where it supports government agencies, hospitals and private health care providers.

Terms of the transaction announced Monday were not disclosed.
